Management provides an opportunity to enhance wildlife-holding potential.

Trees:- The trees are managed by the organic method they are weeded by hand. We cut & pull the grass around the trees then surrounded the area with cardboard & cover with woodchip mulch.

Ride management:-  Inter mowing takes place twice a year first in July/August after the nesting season & then again in the winter months leaving some areas of taller vegetation offering opportunities for wildflowers.

All ride management & inter mowing is now done by D.M.P. Garden Machinery

Habitats:- Cuttings are stacked to form habitat piles in wet/shady areas.

Deadwood is stacked in various locations to stimulate fungi & invertebrate activity.

Wildlife pond:-  The pond is less than 0.5 hectares, so quite small but very good for wildlife. A marshy area borders the pond providing habitat for many different plants. The shallow areas of the pond will attract amphibians.

The pond is very shallow at the top end with a gentle slope creating  a marshy wetland.

Fauna will arrive naturally in & around the pond & amphibians will arrive in the first year to find a suitable habitat.
