Hedgehogs:- They are a gardeners friend as they can consume a hundred slugs in one night.
Food:- Eats slugs, worms, insects, fruit and fungi in the wild.
It will hibernate between November and march in woodpiles, or at the bottom of hedges.
Wood Mouse:- it has large ears and eyes, the Wood Mouse is largely nocturnal.
Food:- The wood mouse has quite a varied diet but it is mainly vegetarian, eating seeds, seedlings, nuts, fruits and buds. When these are scarce, it will also eat snails, earthworms and insects. It is a great hoarder of seeds and nuts and packs full its underground chambers with a supply to help it survive the winter.
Field vole:- mouse-like but blunter nose, shorter tail & less prominent ears. Yellowy-brown fur.
Food:-mainly grasses; also bulbs, roots and tree bark. Occasionally insects, snails and other invertebrates.
