 Planting at Hopworthy started from March 2005 organized by South West Forest with local school children from West Putford & Holsworthy primary schools. Each school planting  Oak & Ash trees.

Students from North Devon College with learning disabilities also planting Oak & Ash trees.

Terry While fencing & forestry designed the new woodland with help from the Forestry Commission, South West Forest & Defra planting  around 10,000 trees.wildcherry

Woodland creation is in support of the Devon biodiversity action plan for Oak woodland.Other species used are:- Ash, Alder, Hawthorn, Hazel, Holly, Rowan, Silver/Downy Birch and Wild Cherry.
